Special grants
for September 2026 !
All missions must be completed by the end of current grand period, 30 September.
Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis until the available budget is exhausted. Please check with the host to confirm availability of the STSM position.
Eligibility
Applicants must not belong to the host institution. In addition, under COST STSM rules, the host organisation must be located in a different country from the country of the applicant’s affiliation. Applicants under 40 years old and from ITC countries are encouraged to apply.
How to apply
Applicants should contact the relevant host to confirm feasibility, then submit the STSM application in e-COST with the host confirmation and a budget calculated using the Budget Calculator sheet. The final call dates and submission email/platform should be inserted before publication.
Applicants should submit through e-COST: title, start and end dates within the active Grant Period, requested budget, host institution/contact person, application form explaining goals, work plan, expected outcomes and contribution to the MoU objectives, and the host confirmation letter.
Applicants must request a budget based on the number of days of the stay, estimated travel/subsistence/implementation costs and the STSM cap of EUR 4,000 per grant. The final amount is decided by the Action MC/Core Group and must reflect the duration and location of the STSM.
Applications will be evaluated openly and transparently by the Core Group, according to relevance to WG objectives, feasibility of the work plan, expected outcomes, contribution to MoU deliverables, inclusiveness and absence of conflicts of interest.
Each grantee should submit a short report to the Action MC describing the work performed, main achievements and planned follow-up activities. The output should feed the relevant WG deliverables.
IMPORTANT: asking for the maximum amount does not increase your chances. A well-budgeted, precise and credible request is more likely to be supported than an inflated one. Please prepare a clear budget and explain each cost item carefully.
Please note that all grants must be used no later than 30 September 2026. Applicants should therefore plan their activities and expenses accordingly.
For informal inquiries please contact Ayşegül Yıldırım (Grant Awarding Coordinator, aysegulyildirim@gantep.edu.tr), Ghadir Hummeid (Grant Holder Manager, hummeid@ulusofona.pt),

Apply for other grants !
CitySenz encourages applications for grants that directly support the objectives of the Action: advancing research, training, dissemination and collaboration on architectural and urban ambiences. The MoU explicitly foresees STSMs, training schools, workshops, conferences and conference grants as part of the Action activities.
Applicants must clearly show how their proposal contributes to CitySenz objectives, especially the Working Groups: defining ambiences, data collection and archiving, balancing and aligning concepts, innovation scouting, outreach and training. The requested amount must be realistic, justified and proportional to the activity. COST confirms that grant amounts are decided by the Action MC/Core Group based on the proposal and should reflect duration, location, scope and actual needs.
We strongly encourage young students, young researchers and innovators under 40 years old to apply. COST defines Young Researchers and Innovators as people under 40, with specific support available through YRI measures. [1]
